Put first things first. If you are losing control of time, then figure out what your operating rhythm needs to be (bake in some flex time for distractions) and wa-la. You will regain some of the wasted time we all have. Relationships take time to develop, but you can surely speed up that process with true discussions of value. Life is so filled with filler and fluff. Your client/contact will probably be stunned and elated that someone like you finally came along with some substance.

I think a lot of times people can make the mistake of using busy work to check out; you can't be proactive while you are checked out. The message of deepening our current experiences by investing more heavily in all of our relationships is a life changing behavior; a very proactive behavior that can become a habit.

It's so easy to find busy work that gives you the semblance of being fulfilled. Even though it's difficult to focus on what's important, the cotton-candy busy sensation quickly gives way to fillings of emptiness/futility. Adding deeper relationships in one's life will create additional meaning/fullness.
