How do you spend your day? (aka what's your job?)
I'm a communications consultant for The Dilenschneider Group. We are a strategic communications company base in New York.

My principal job is to message and media train our clients. I help people communicate what they want.
What's your hometown?
New York City
Favorite activities?
Ultimately, I love to help people be better persuader and communicators.

What I teach is just as applicable in any business situation (sales, communicating to current clients, employees, etc.) or in any ones pesonal life.

It drives me crazy when I hear people say the key to a great relationship is communication. No, it's good and effective communication.

In my personal life, my wife and I are big fans of great food and wine. We are also avid travlers.
What's your long-term goal? If you don't know yet, that's OK!
My short and long term goal is to be one of the most sought after communications consultants in the world.
Achieving our long-term goals involves a lot of baby steps. What goal are you working toward right now?
I have a list of my ten keys to being a great communicator. I'm sending them out to people I know and trying to circulate it in social media.
How would you like KF community members help you achieve this goal?

If they know companies or people who want to be much better comunicators, really getting what they want, please refer them to me.

Any advice about getting thte word out about what I'm doing would be appreciated, too.

THE DILENSCHNEIDER GROUP

Bob Berkowitz, a principal with The Dilenschneider Group (DGI) joined the firm in 2008. He is in charge of Media Training.

Mr. Berkowitz’ career started in Denver and San Francisco as a radio talk show host. He turned to journalism as a national news editor for Associated Press Radio in Washington, D.C. He became AP Radio’s chief Senate and political reporter. In addition, he covered the accident at the Three Mile Island nuclear power plant and the 1976 Carter presidential campaign.

Mr. Berkowitz was a founding correspondent for CNN covering the 1980 presidential campaign. After the election of Ronald Reagan, he was named senior White House correspondent. Among the many stories covered was the assassination attempt on President Reagan. He then went to ABC News as a general assignment reporter covering such stories at the Falklands War in Argentina and the Tylenol murders in Chicago. He was also a substitute host for “Good Morning America.” Mr. Berkowitz was a reporter for “Today” at NBC and hosted talk shows for the Financial News Network and CNBC.

He also covered Pope John Paul II in the U.S, Mexico, Argentina and the Vatican.

Mr. Berkowitz has also appeared numerous times as a commentator on CNN, Fox News Channel and MSNBC.

He is the recipient of the Overseas Press Club award and The Freedom Foundation award for journalism.

Mr. Berkowitz has extensive experience in media training. He has assisted some of the top executives at Fortune Five Hundred companies for more than twenty years.

He holds a degree in business from the State University of New York at Delhi and a B.A. from the University of Denver in Communications.

Mr. Berkowitz, a native of New York City, is married and lives in Manhattan and the East End of Long Island

I'm a conversationalist! I find conversations intriguing because it brings ideas together with the human element! I know I can become a better and more effective communicator- I just get caught up in my enthusiasm and excitement when I speak!
