Hello again Keith,

I must say that this site is more addictive than facebook! And yes, you're right, it's very tempting to message you.

I wanted to ask you what more can I be doing in terms of my interests in my website building, and interests in copywriting, advertising, and business?

Currently, I am building a database of internships in each of these fields to see how I can get my foot in the door. I know not to apply to the hundreds of internships that I've gathered. But I'm intending to contact these people in case I need some sort of guidance in their field.

Is this a smart way to go?

By the way, I do appreciate you contacting each of us as often as you can. I think we all have an idea of the tremendous work a CEO has to deal with! The members appreciate your strong presence and support on the site.

Kudos to you again Keith!

Keith,

I am in the corporate recruiter and a lot of my work is done over the phone. My wife seems to think I am very outgong but I have a tendancy to try to hard to make a connection. I consider myself very outgoing and always enjoy meeting new people. My biggest challange seems to be the icebreaker. What do you feel is the best way to start conversations? Thanks for the help in advance.

having not heard your opening, im not sure. maybe you should podcast something and put it up here. possible for people to listen and we can give advice? but i think the key is to think about whats in it for them. right up front, you should really try to capture their attention and give them something to think about that would be of benefit to them specifically. most people will give you time to get to know them once they think you can help them in some way.

Hello Keith!

First Thank you for installing this incredibly worthy mindset in my head! :-)

My question to you is: How can I reach and attract a mentor that I would really love to learn from. I am 21 years old, still studying, building my first small businesses. What can I offer such a person in return to mentor me? For example a CEO of a company who I admire. How can I approach this person?

Thank you!

Bastian

One of the things that I am trying hardest to improve in my life is the work/life/family balance - and I know and understand that it is not simply an equation for splitting your day into 8 hours of this and 4 hours of that and finding "quality time" for the things and the people that you love - there is more to it than that. I have for a long time held the belief that it is really committing the same amount of energy to your family and your life/self that you do to your work.... But I just re-read the chapter in "Never Eat Alone" where you said. "If you are out of balance you will feel "rushed, angry and unfulfilled" when you are balanced you will be "Joyful enthusiastic and full of gratitude". Well right now I am rushed, angry and unfulfilled - how do I take control? I don't want to be that charicature of the man who works so hard to provide for his family that he never sees them growing up and never connects with anyone. I need a little nudge in the right direction.

Thanks,

Ted

That is a nudge in the right direction - thank you! I'm not sure what you mean when you say that the courageous few move into the pain and let it change them?

I coach folks on this (and have struggled with it myself so I truly understand) I would be more than happy to do a complimentary coaching session with you (no strings attached) if you are interested. Let me know Ted!

Ted, this is a journey not an answer. sorry. but i do have an answer. BLOCK some time off for yourself to take care of you. Sounds like you have to arrest the downward spiral of your emotions and get back on track. I'd suggest that you find a retreat. could be just a day. something that grounds you, and makes you think. id suggest something spirutual or self-help oriented. but while you are there, make some commitments to yourself of how you will bring greater joy to you and your family and your workplace. So what one thing can you do at work to make it a better more joyful place? Id suggest promising to go to lunch with a coworker or someone and get to know them as humans once a week. then at home, dont know how old your kids are, but how about doing a monthly family event of importance. you pick the first one. maybe have the family go volunteer at a shelter or do something that will make you all feel grateful. then let other members of the family pick the other ones. just some ideas without having any direct understanding of your situation.

Superb!

Keith, What is it about the work that you do that you're so passionate about?

Mike, take a look at this site and yo get a sample of what i am most passionate about. I feel i have a purpose on this planet when i can help others. Look at people on this site getting caring and generous advice from others. its all imput (some better than others) but we need that feedback loop. then imagine that people begin to shift their thinking and soon enough their lives, their family and their worplace are better places. thats somethign to get passionate about and im thrilled to give that to everyone here. each of us can do just that here! Im going to post this up top too.
